The largest concert series in the Santa Barbara area, the SBMC presents its twice-monthly Saturday afternoon concerts October through June, free to the public. The majority of performances are held at Faulkner Gallery of the Santa Barbara Public Library, and the current season also includes a concert at the First Congregational Church.
Highlights of the season include a gala Holiday Concert followed by a reception for SBMC members, a special All-Debussy Concert commemorating the 150th anniversary of the composer's birth, and a program of popular audience favorites, entitled "Music of Broadway and Hollywood."
The concert series attracts among its performers concert artists, dedicated semi-professionals, and talented young scholarship awardees.
As is traditional, audiences are treated to concerts displaying the Music Club's signature offerings: a splendid diversity of historical musical periods and compositional styles, including beloved masterworks as well as exciting new and seldom-heard repertoire. At the conclusion of the series there will be two June Scholarship Winners Concerts, featuring impressive performances by 2012 SBMC Scholarship Winners.
A valued cultural resource in the community since 1969, the SBMC has become a favorite with Santa Barbara audiences. Our concerts have consistently been lauded in the press, garnering such accolades as:
