Membership

The SBMC has two kinds of members: Individual and Household. A Household Membership provides membership benefits to up to four members of the same household, that is, sharing the same address. While we are no longer making a distinction between Performing and Associate Members, a member still must audition for the Concert Committee in order to join the roster of performers. This audition is separate from the membership application process.

Please note that as of 2016, the Santa Barbara Music Club Board has instituted rolling memberships. Your membership will be valid for one (1) year from the month you apply and pay dues and you will receive a renewal notification at the appropriate time.

We have also done away with membership levels because member benefits are the same for any level. A membership will cost $35 for a single membership and $50 for a household membership. If you wish to contribute more—and you are encouraged to do so!—you may allocate funds to our scholarship program and/or to general operating expenses. We will now apply our traditional levels to your entire yearly donation amount, as follows:

• $35 – $99 Schubert Supporter
• $100 – $249 Chopin Circle
• $250 – $499 Dvorak Donor
• $500 + Bach Benefactor

Your donation is fully tax-deductible and will eventually be acknowledged on our Website, unless you request anonymity.

For now, the main membership benefit is the knowledge that you have helped the Music Club in its mission to bring beautiful classical music to the Santa Barbara community and to have supported our talented young people in their classical music pursuits. We have migrated our database to a new system that will enable issuing membership certificates. Our hope is when the pandemic finally settles down that performing arts institutions will once again provide discounts to music club members and these certificates will identify you as a valid member.
